Kenya AA is graded by bean size, not simply cupped for quality, which is what makes it a uniquely tradeable specialty coffee: two lots labeled AA are size-comparable in a way most other origins cannot claim. Beans are retained on a 17/18 screen — roughly 7.2mm and up — and come from smallholder-dominated wet mills that fully wash and sun-dry the cherry before delivery.
RiftSoil sources direct from factory-level (wet mill) lots in Kirinyaga, Nyeri, and Kiambu, so you can trace your shipment back to a single cooperative or estate rather than a blended, anonymous national lot. Every genuine specialty-grade AA lot we offer carries a documented SCA score of 80 or higher and clears the industry-standard defect thresholds (zero primary defects, no more than five full secondary defects per 350g sample).
